Your Typical Wedding Day at Bleaklow Farm!

Theres nothing better about getting inspiration for your wedding day from past couples but let’s go one step further. Let’s hear directly from the team at Bleaklow Farm, who are there to help bring beautiful wedding days to life each year.

If you are struggling to envisage your wedding at Bleaklow, then here’s is a timeline for how it may flow! Read on to discover how your perfect wedding weekend could unfold…

Arrive at the property

The journey is over! The anticipation has been building and now you’re finally at your dream venue.

Park the car, bring in your bags and take a moment to soak up the view. This is where your ideas start coming to life. Open that bottle of fizz, take a breath and let the excitement begin.

Unpack & Prepare

With the wedding getting closer, we always think it’s best to unpack straight away, and lay out your wedding outfits. Get all the boring bits done first, ahead of prepping the house for your big day. We thinks it’s always best to get the smaller stuff ready immediately so you can focus on the big stuff.

Have a plan and share it

With 15 en suite bedrooms, Bleaklow Farm is rarely a quiet place in the lead-up to a wedding. Make sure everyone knows the plan from the outset – who’s doing what, when, and where. Involving your wedding party in the preparation not only keeps things organised, it spreads the workload and avoids last-minute confusion. Clear roles and shared responsibility turn a busy house into a co-ordinated effort, keeping the focus on the day itself rather than the logistics.

The fun bit – decorating

Start decorating. Arrange the layout of your ceremony room, ensuring every guest has a clear view of the moment that matters. Decorate and lay out your tables for the wedding breakfast. This is where your wedding mood board finally comes to life and you get to see your decorations and handcrafting in situ.

Run through the day

A short rehearsal removes uncertainty. Walk through timings, locations and responsibilities so the day runs to plan rather than guesswork. If your ceremony is in the barn at Bleaklow Farm and the same space converts into the evening party, make sure everyone knows that turnaround is a group task and who leads it. Apply the same clarity to practicalities – if you’re not using caterers, assign ownership of clearing and washing up. Defined roles prevent drift and keep the schedule intact.

Relax & sleep!

Eat some food, talk, spend time together and have an early night! This is the perfect time to relax and enjoy the luxuries of Bleaklow itself. The prep is done, you are set for tomorrow and you can finally relax. But remember to have an early night.

The wedding morning

It’s Timeeee! Today, is all about you. Firstly, though, make sure you have breakfast. If the plan is set and everyone is properly briefed, the morning shifts from coordination to preparation. Roles are already assigned, the schedule is understood, and the setup is underway – signage in place, flowers delivered, suppliers on site. That removes the need to manage and allows focus to narrow to one task: getting ready. Relinquish control at this point. The structure you put in place carries the day; your attention belongs on the moment itself.

Most importantly, this is your chance for your photographer to get pictures of the smaller details, your rings, the flowers, you getting ready, etc… photos you will cherish forever.

Make your way to your ceremony

You are ready and just moments away from tying the knot. Guests will be in their seats, music will be playing and you will be making your way down to the ceremony, whether that’s in the barn or even out on the lawn. The moment you have been waiting for is finally here.

The cameras are rolling, guests are excited, all that’s left to do is say I Do!

Drinks and canapes on the lawn

After the ceremony, most couples move the celebration into a different part of the house or out onto the lawn, creating a clear shift from formalities to relaxation. This is the point where the space opens up – canapés circulating, drinks in hand, and guests settling into the atmosphere. With the backdrop of uninterrupted views and your chosen music setting the tone, the focus turns to conversation, movement and shared moments. It’s a natural transition that allows the day to breathe before the evening celebrations begin.

Capturing those moments

Whether you have a professional videographer, photographer or a DIY approach with camera phones, with multiple indoor and outdoor spaces, the setting naturally creates an informal atmosphere where guests, and you, can relax and move freely. This lends itself to photography that feels unforced and genuine. We’ve seen some amazing shots of guests at weddings at Bleaklow that are filled with joy and happiness. While it’s still worth setting aside time for key shots, some of the strongest images come from these in-between moments – guests drifting between spaces, conversations unfolding, and the day happening around you. The result is a collection of photographs that reflect real energy, filled with movement, ease and understated moments of joy.

Make your way to dinner

There are multiple spaces to bring everyone together for dining. The kitchen comfortably seats up to 30 around the main table, while the barn provides additional seating and flexibility for larger groups. If you are using private caterers or chefs, the kitchen is equipped with multiple ovens and refrigerators and also spacious. Outside, the options open up further, with space to cater for any number of guests – ideal for a hog roast, pizza truck or barbecue. Wherever you choose to dine, the format is adaptable, allowing you to shape the experience around your guests while settling into the next part of the celebration. it offers the perfect space for all guests to host your dream wedding breakfast. dine together.

Speeches

The moments that get the emotions flowing, private jokes, heart-warming stories, a time to join both families together. You can relax, sit back and listen to what your friends and families have to say. Speeches bring everyone together, plus they are a great are a great way to fill in time gaps before dessert.

Drinks and music

Inside or outside, structured or free-flowing? On a warm night, open the kitchen doors onto the terrace, light the fire pit and let the space extend outdoors. If the temperature drops, the barn provides a beautiful, atmospheric setting, with the option to turn the ground floor into a full dance space while the band plays from the mezzanine. Drinks continue, music carries through, and the shift from dining to evening celebration happens without interruption, shaped by the setting you choose. Once again, the spaces at Bleaklow offer a perfect transition from sophisticated meal to evening party spectacular.

Time to party

Isolation changes the rules at Bleaklow Farm. The volume goes up! The integrated Sonos speakers carry music throughout the house and barn, keeping everything connected as the night builds. What was a dining area becomes a full dance floor where you can sing at the top of your voice with no need to hold back.

The next day

Waking up with the entire wedding party the next day removes any sense of anti-climax. The people you celebrated with are still there, so the occasion continues – just at a slower pace. Some couples use the surrounding landscape to organise a walk, others plan something more structured like clay pigeon shooting. Equally, doing very little works just as well: sharing leftovers, revisiting moments from the day and filling in the gaps on everything you didn’t see. The experience extends naturally, rather than ending abruptly.

Afterall who doesn’t want to prolong their wedding celebrations!
